You asked, we answered!

Q1. What are the consumable parts and their costs?

  • Valve stickers: About $0.03 each (some third-party options as low as $0.023).
  • Markers: Currently around $1.25 each, with a goal of reducing to $0.50. We’re also developing custom markers designed specifically for the VersaPod 2.0 marker tool—optimized for smaller spindles, longer-lasting, and more precise.
  • Gaskets: These rarely need replacement unless damaged or heavily compacted with dust. Many VersaPods have been running for over 2 years on their original gaskets.

Q2. Can I get technical details on the vacuum pump?

We’ll share any documentation or manuals provided with the pump. Final specifications are being confirmed with our supplier to ensure complete accuracy before release.

Q3. What type of pump is it?

  • Dual-piston, oil-free design
  • Runtime rating: Typically 3,000–5,000 hours under pressure
  • Under vacuum: Lower heat and friction extend lifespan, though specific data is still being gathered
  • Common maintenance item: Piston seal replacement if failure occurs
  • We plan to stock replacement parts once our supplier relationship is fully established.

Q4. Does the pump cycle on/off or run continuously?

The pump is a continuous-run system.
We tested a cycling setup (effective on non-porous materials), but it required large vacuum tanks. Because wood porosity varies significantly, continuous operation proved to be the most consistent and reliable solution.

Q5. Do I need to buy additional parts to make the system work?

No — the pump system is completely plug-and-play.
The dual cylinders are externally plumbed for simplicity and ease of maintenance. Everything you need to get started is included.

Q6. Is local pickup available?

Yes. We’re located in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.
Local pickup is available by appointment if you’d like to save on shipping or stop by in person.

Q7. Can VersaPod be made for smaller or custom CNC machines?

Absolutely.
We’re always exploring new machine formats and sizes. If you’re interested in a custom fit or configuration, feel free to reach out by email or phone — we’d be happy to discuss it.

Q8. Are you looking for beta testers?

Yes. VersaPod has been in real-world production use for over two years, and we’re looking to expand testing into new areas, including:

  • Hobby and desktop CNC machines
  • Aluminum cutting with mist coolant
  • New pod and gasket variants

If you enjoy testing and providing feedback, we’d love to collaborate.

Q9. Will VersaPod work with the Carvera Air desktop CNC?

Yes!
We’ve developed a custom version that bolts directly to the Carvera Air’s base plate using M5 screws.
You’ll just need to route the ½″ nylon vacuum line into the enclosure — this connects directly to the back of the BaseGrid.
